HOME TICKETS ABOUT SCHOLARSHIP DONATE

Katie's legacy continues to impact many within our community in many ways. Not only are we fierce advocates for raising awareness to Domestic Violence, but also for supporting Nursing students at Cayuga Community College through Katie's endowed scholarship fund. Katie's scholarship is awarded to a returning student in his/her final year of the nursing program at CCC. Preference will be given to a single parent who is a Cayuga County high school graduate with a strong preference for an Auburn High School graduate.

Please help us to congratulate Phoebe Stahl on receiving Katie's 2018-2019 scholarship. And thank you Phoebe from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your very personal story. We are very excited for your future as a Registered Nurse. We know YOU will touch the lives of so many and make your Dad very proud!

My name is Phoebe, a recipient of your award. I am the third child in a family of eight. I graduate this May from the Cayuga Community College with an associates degree in Nursing. It wasn’t easy due to some unfortunate happenings in my life; my Dad passed away after an eleven-year battle with Cancer. He formed the center of our family and even after the long illness his passing was traumatic. In the middle of all this I had two serious car accidents in bad winter weather around Syracuse. This scholarship is an honor and was a great help; it reminded me to persevere through the difficult times in life as I work towards my goal. Money is tight in our large family and the financial help was very welcome.

My goal is to work in a hospitals critical-care unit and perhaps, as I gain experience become a traveling nurse as I work towards being a Nurse Practitioner. I worked throughout my college years as a home health aide and found I liked helping people, with a nursing degree I think I can make a difference.

As I inch towards graduation as a Nurse, I am thankful for the support I’ve had from family and friends. I look forward to giving back that support to my future patients.
